New York City does not need a Walmart. We are not Podunk. Walmart will hurt and in some cases kill small businesses.
People should be able to shop in their neighborhood and retain the convenience in shopping in their neighborhoods. Walmart will not really be creating jobs. On the contrary, it will be cutting jobs because the small businesses forced to close employ people.
As a consumer, I value the intimacy and familiarity of a small business. It is a convenience for me to be able to walk to a store in my neighborhood and shop there. Also, will Walmart be selling guns and rifles?
I received their mailer telling me to telephone in support of Walmart invading Queens or any other part of New York. NO to Walmart.
