Computers, printers, and other technological devices may not always function properly. When problems occur, some people visit their local Best Buy while others simply call Your I.T. Guy Services and enjoy the convenience of having the problem fixed right at home or work.
“The purpose is basically on-site support for both the average home user and more so for small businesses,” said founder Jose De La Cuesta, who jumpstarted the business in May 2010.
He added that although he focuses his attention on small businesses consisting of 10-15 employees, he also helps the average person that may have a printing malfunction or an email mishap.
“Think of it as having a computer person on retainer, the same way as a lawyer or an accountant,” De La Cuesta said. “You have me to the point where if you have any problems or issues you call me and my business is always there.”
I.T. Guy Services serves all five boroughs and specializes in everything from data recovery to virus removal all for a flat rate compared to hourly charges of competitors. Interested individuals and small businesses first contact De La Cuesta with questions and problems, then make arrangements for him to visit and work on the problem. He also offers remote services, where as long as the computer has Internet connection, he can initiate a remote service, enabling him to go into the computer and try to troubleshoot the problems. He said although some people are wary, it solves basic issues much faster.
When asked what inspired him to start I.T. Guy Services and work on his own, De La Cuesta, who previously worked for different departments and technical services for CompUSA, said his dedication to helping people is a main factor. He noticed that a problem in retail environments was that “everyone is treated like a number and the goal is to get things done as quickly as possible.”
“I would be working on four different machines at a time and no specialized attention was given,” he said. “I wanted to be more focused on customer needs and building solutions and solving problems based on what customers want or have problems with.”
Although De La Cuesta currently works solo, he hopes to eventually add more individuals to his team to service more people but said he will be very picky in order to maintain quality customer service.
