I feel that the issue of licensing bicyclists is an important issue and one that cannot be handled by a few individuals – especially when organizations and individuals resist the fact that the crazy bikers should be licensed.
Their only interest seems to be that they wear helmets for their safety, but what about the pedestrians?
I have had enough of bikers riding against traffic, through red lights, and on the sidewalks. Many elected officials, together with Transportation Alternatives and the DOT, believe the answer is in bike lanes; it is not.
These bikers behave the same way in the bike lanes as if the roads belong to them. The answer is licensing. Once they know they will be fined when identified, I believe more of them will follow the rules of the road.
Bless you Councilmember Eric Ulrich. Can we all work together to resolve this safety issue?
