Bad form to have forms

As many budget items appear on the chopping block, including the imminent closure of many senior citizen centers, I am incredulous that some bureaucratic imbeciles have decided to seriously hinder the tax return process by closing virtually every door to the tax filer.

It was understandable to a degree that tax forms were no longer mailed automatically. In fact, that action, which resulted in considerable savings sparing countless tons of paper waste, is laudable. Most vital to this move was widespread public notification with an 800 number for tax forms if needed.

This year? A virtual blackout!

I called the 800 phone numbers on my 2009 tax folder and received a very curt message."This number is no longer in service and no other number is available." Of course there were prompts to file online.

Another prompt indicated tax forms were available at local libraries. Not the case in Queens and Manhattan.

I am aware that there is an active movement in Albany to weed out inept and seedy politicians but please act fast since obviously back office imbeciles abound.
