Age Well Physical Therapy helps recovery too

At Age Well Physical Therapy and Wellness, P.C., patients are not only given a helping hand in physical and occupational therapy, but they are also aided in the process of recovery afterward.

“Given the aging population, I think that it is a wonderful service to the senior community. We are reminding them of the importance of staying fit as they age and assisting them in seeking the professionals that are best trained to address their unique needs,” said co-founder John Dragan.

With two locations, one in Maspeth (69-61 Grand Avenue) and another in Lake Success (1999 Marcus Avenue), the physical therapist-owned clinic has been specializing in therapy needs of seniors for the past six years and offers a variety of services including senior fitness programs, standardized senior fitness testing, prosthetics and orthotics, flexibility and balance training, home therapy visits and free transportation for patients over 65 in addition to physical and occupational therapy.

Dragan and co-founder Mark Herbrich both agree that the inspiration in creating Age Well came from a passion for care in geriatrics.

“The idea for Age Well was born out of the notion that there was a growing need in the community for an outpatient and physical therapy and wellness clinic that specialized only in geriatrics and one that afforded them the time and attention they deserve,” said Dragan. “Everything, including all of our equipment, staff, programs and even the clinic layout are geared toward that population.”

When asked what sets Age Well apart from other similar businesses, Dragan and Herbrich said patients “deserve staff certified in this population and who have dedicated their careers to work in this setting,” referring to the geriatric certified specialist and certified exercise experts on staff. Age Well focuses solely on seniors and specializes entirely in geriatric therapy.

Dragan and Herbrich said patient feedback is a top priority at Age Well.

“We strive to continue to come up with creative and effective ways to serve the senior population’s physical therapy and fitness needs,” said Dragan. “Right now we are focusing on our current business and looking for ways to make it the best outpatient therapy office in lower New York.”
