Reverend Monsignor Thomas F. Donovan J.C.D., Pastor Emeritus of Sacred Heart R.C. Church in Bayside, passed away on March 31.
Donovan, 80, had been at the Bishop Mugavero Residence in Douglaston prior to his passing.
He was with Sacred Heart for 15 years and also served on the Brooklyn Diocese Marriage Tribunal and as chaplain of the Catholic Lawyers’ Guild of Queens.
“He was a well loved, well respected and extremely compassionate man who always had a story to tell,” said Father Coleman Costello. “He celebrated a great liturgy, was great with kids and was very generous.
“He had a great smile, a great sense of humor and a great deal of compassion. He was one of my close friends and all in all a great pastor.”
Arrangements were handled by the Martin A. Gleason Funeral Home in Bayside. A Mass of Christian burial was held at Sacred Heart. Interment was at St. John’s Cemetery. – Tonia N. Cimino
