Elmhurst UPS worker stole cell phones: Brown

MASPETH — An Elmhurst UPS worker was arraigned last month for allegedly changing multiple shipping labels at the Maspeth UPS facility where he worked so Samsung and Apple cell phones being sent to customers were instead sent to his house, the Queens district attorney’s office said.

Alfonso Suarez, 29, of Junction Boulevard and 51st Avenue in Elmhurst, has been charged with two counts of grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property, the DA said.

Suarez’s supervisor at a UPS facility, at 46-05 56th Road in Maspeth, told authorities Suarez redirected six packages containing a collective 45 phones worth $22,500 to his house, and recovered multiple cellular phone packages from his home, the DA said.
