Ozone-Howard wins 6th straight district championship

The Ozone-Howard Junior Girls captured their sixth straight district championship by defeating Ridgewood-Glendale-Middle Village-Maspeth, 14-5. Next, the girls will play for the city championship – a goal that has narrowly eluded them for the past two years. Coach Joe Bode said he fully expects his team to give their all and that “the girls are very focused and ready to take it this year.”
But before playing in the city finals tournament on July 22, Bode recognized the incredible feat his team has already accomplished – their double three-peat in the district games.
“This is a very special group of girls and its been a great and memorable six years,” he said. “It’s every coach’s dream to have a group like this one. They are like my extended family.”
