RFK/Triborough Bridge turns 75

The Greater Astoria Historical Society in cooperation with MTA Bridges and Tunnels, commemorated the 75th anniversary of the RFK/Triborough Bridge with the opening of a special photography exhibit, “A Planners Dream, an Engineer’s Triumph, a Legacy to our City,” featuring images of the “older” New York.
The display contains aged technology from around the same time the bridge was being built including old stamp machines, cameras, coffee makers and more. They are currently on display at Quinn’s Gallery in the main lecture hall at the Greater Astoria Historical Society. The images and items will be on display Mondays and Wednesday from 2-5 p.m. and on Saturdays from 12-5 p.m. until October.
“This is a perfect way to bring the three communities that the RFK Bridge serves together to celebrate the 75th anniversary of our oldest bridge, which played such a vital role in the development of modern New York City history,” said MTA Bridges and Tunnels President James Ferrara.
