New York Met Mike Baxter returned to his Whitestone roots when he visited the Dwarf Giraffe Athletic League (DGAL) on Saturday, October 29. Baxter shared skills that got him into the Major Leagues with kids from the community – emphasizing the importance of education. He told the kids that if they work hard and study, good things will happen. He also spent time on hitting tips, ensuring that Baxter will not be the last pro to come out of Whitestone.
DGAL is a non-profit organization serving the Whitestone community since 1955. The organization provides programs to youngsters with an emphasis on instruction, sportsmanship and teamwork. For more information, visit www.dwarfgiraffe.com.
