Four Con Edison employees came to the aid of a woman who had been attacked by a purse snatcher in Bayside recently, according to Con Ed.
Con Edison credited workers – John Kane, John McDonnell, Michael Santeramo and Anthony Farmighetti – with thwarting the robbery and assisting the 24-year-old victim at 201st Street and 42nd Avenue.
The energy company released a video interview with two of the workers involved.
After hearing a scream and seeing a woman being robbed at gunpoint, the crew approached the suspect, who then turned the gun on them before running off, according to a statement released by Con Ed.
“We ran right there, you know,” said McDonnell in the statement. “You hear something like that happen and you just run right there. You just go right into mode, you want to help somebody.”
Two workers chased the suspect through a neighborhood yard but could not catch him, the utility said.
The employees also stayed with the woman until police arrived at the scene, according to Con Ed.
“She was very grateful that we helped her out and she was very thankful that we stopped the altercation,” Kane said in the statement.
