Man Injured In Woodhaven Struggle

An apparent dispute at a Woodhaven corner early on Sunday morning, Feb. 26, reportedly came to an end after one of the combatants shot a man in the abdomen, police reported.

The unidentified victim was treated at a local hospital and later released, law enforcement sources said.

Police are continuing to search for the five suspects involved in the gunfire, each of whom were described by sources as Hispanic males.

Authorities said the trouble began at around 5 a.m. Sunday morning in the vicinity of Jamaica Avenue and 75th Street, near the Brooklyn/ Queens border.

Reportedly, the victim was approached by the group of five suspects and surrounded. Seconds later, the six became engaged in a struggle.

During the fight, police said, one of the suspects pulled out a gun and fired the shot which struck the man in the abdomen. The group reportedly dispersed and fled from the scene.

Members of the 102nd Precinct and EMS responded to the scene. The victim was hospitalized for his nonlife threatening injury.

The 102nd Precinct Detective Squad is conducting an ongoing in- vestigation into the case, police said.
