Grab Brooklyn Man For Glendale Assault
Armed with a bicycle chain, a Brooklyn man allegedly attacked a 34-year-old man at a Glendale intersection last Friday afternoon, June 15, but was caught by police shortly after the assault, it was reported.
The suspect was identified by law enforcement sources as Aaron Torres, 20, of Autumn Avenue in the Cypress Hills section of Brooklyn. A second, unidentified individual involved in the assault remains at large, authorities noted.
According to the criminal complaint provided by the Queens District Attorney’s office, the beatdown took place at around 3:25 p.m. last Friday in front of a location on Cooper Avenue near 60th Lane.
The 34-year-old male victim was approached at the location by Torres and the unidentified suspect. Law enforcement sources said Torres allegedly hit the victim numerous times with a bicycle chain about the head and body.
During the assault, it was noted, the victim managed to knock the suspect to the ground. The unidentified perpetrator reportedly picked up the chain and hit the victim repeatedly thereafter.
Members of the 104th Precinct responded to the scene a short time later. The 34-year-old man was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Torres was caught shortly after the attack took place and was taken into custody by P.O. Jared Ock on charges of second-degree assault and second-degree harassment.
According to court records, Torres was arraigned in Queens Criminal Court the following day before Judge Stephanie Zaro, who ordered him held on $7,500 cash.
An investigation is ongoing.
