Deadly End In Qns. to His Run from Bklyn. Crash

Fleeing the scene of a fender-bender proved to be a deadly decision for a 24-year-old man who lost control of his vehicle, collided into several cars and overturned along Atlantic Avenue on the Woodhaven/Ozone Park border early last Saturday morning, June 16, police reported.

A 24-year-old man was killed after the vehicle he was driving lost control, struck several parked cars and overturned at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and 88th Street on the Woodhaven/Ozone Park border early last Saturday morning, June 16.

The identity of the victim was not disclosed by police pending family notification.

According to information obtained by detectives, the trouble began just before 3 a.m. at the corner of Atlantic Avenue and Crescent Street in Cypress Hills, where the victim-while behind the wheel of a gray 2010 Toyota sedan and accompanied by a female passenger-became involved in a minor accident with another car.

Avenue, traveling over the Brooklyn/Queens border for about a mile.

Law enforcement sources said the driver lost control of the Toyota near the corner of Atlantic Avenue and 88th Street, which then struck several parked cars and a livery cab before overturning.

The impact of the collision caused the 24-year-old man to be thrown from his vehicle, police said.

Members of the 102nd Precinct, NYPD Highway Patrol Unit 3, Engine Co. 293, Ladder Co. 142 and EMS units responded to the scene.

The unidentified driver was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. His female passenger was reportedly treated for minor injuries.

An inquiry by the NYPD Accident Investigation Squad is ongoing, police said.
