A 69-year-old man has been charged with assault for burning his daughter with a chemical liquid, said police.
According to combined reports, on Saturday afternoon, at his East New York home, Jerome Lynch poured the substance on his daughter, Jane Lynch, 49, of Queens, melting her clothes and burning her eyes, face and body. The liquid appeared to have been drain cleaner, said the NYPD.
The victim was taken to New York Presbyterian Hospital with third degree chemical burns and in critical condition.
In addition to assault, the Brooklyn father has been charged with criminal possession of a weapon, menacing and harassment, according to court records.
Lynch is being held him without bail and the judge has ordered a psychiatric exam for him.
Sources told the New York Post that Lynch handed police a note saying that his daughter had mentally abused him. But his daughter’s friend denies those allegations and said she is “a loving caregiver” to her father, who has dementia.
