Bushwick Gets Ready for More Open Studios

Planning Meeting For Festival This Mon.

Arts in Bushwick will hold its 2013 Bushwick Open Studios (BOS) on the weekend of May 31-June 2, the organization announced in a Sunday, Jan. 20 email.

Now entering its seventh year, the art festival has grown to encompass hundreds of venues and artists throughout Bushwick as well as Ridgewood, East Williamsburg and Bedford-Stuyvesant.

An open community meeting will be held on Monday, Jan. 28 at 7 p.m. at Bathaus Co-Working Space on 279 Starr St. in Bushwick for prospective artists, volunteers and the larger community. At the meeting, past organizers will speak about the festival, and attendees will be able to voice questions or concerns.

In addition, five mixers will be held before the festival. Artists and venues wishing to participate in BOS must attend at least one mixer to receive a registration code. Registration will take place from Mar. 22 to Apr. 24.

Arts in Bushwick also announced that it is seeking volunteers in several areas. The organization is seeking web developers fluent in WordPress; designers to help create print programs; and programmers to help develop an application for Android devices (an iPhone app was unveiled last year).
