Takes Cash, Then Flees From Sunnyside Branch
Donning a pair of shades, a bandit walked into a Sunnyside bank last Friday, Mar. 22, and used a demand note to withdraw a sum of cash, police reported.
Law enforcement sources said the caper took place at around 12:30 p.m. inside the Chase bank located at 46-10 Queens Blvd.
According to information obtained by police, the perpetrator- described as a white male in his late 30s to early 40s standing 5’4″-tall with a receding hairline and wearing gold-rimmed glasses-approached a teller and presented a note demanding cash.
Police determined that no weapons were displayed by the suspect during the course of the robbery.
Reportedly, the employee provided the crook with a sum of cash believed to be at about $4,000. Upon receiving the funds, authorities said, the suspect fled from the scene in an unknown direction.
Members of the 108th Precinct responded to the scene. There were no reported injuries.
Various police units canvassed the surrounding area for the suspect, but despite all efforts, there were no immediate arrests, law enforcement sources noted. The NYPD Major Case Squad is continuing its investigation, police said.
