Man Sought for Groping Girl at Woodside Station

Say Deviant Struck Boarding Train

As the Times Newsweekly went to press on Wednesday afternoon, Mar. 13, a man wanted for allegedly groping a 12-year-old girl at a Woodside subway station last Friday morning, Mar. 8, remains at large, it was reported.

Police released last Friday night a sketch of the suspect, who is described as a Hispanic male between 28 and 35 years of age, standing between 5’4″- and 5’6″-tall who was seen carrying a red messenger bag.

On Monday afternoon, the NYPD also released surveillance camera footage of the suspect walking in the vicinity of the crime scene.

Law enforcement sources said the perpetrator approached the victim at the Manhattan-bound platform of the 7 line at the Woodside-61st Street station- located above the intersection of Roosevelt Avenue and 61st Street-at around 7:40 a.m. last Friday.

Reportedly, the suspect came up to the girl from behind and grabbed her buttocks as they boarded an arriving train. Minutes later, authorities noted, the perpetrator departed the station at Queensboro Plaza while the child remained on board.

The incident was later reported to the 108th Precinct and the NYPD Transit Bureau. The victim was not injured.

The investigation is ongoing.
