Fatal Fight In South Ozone Park

A South Ozone Park man died last Tuesday, Feb. 18, after allegedly being hit in the head with a frying pan during a fight with his brother in their home, police reported.

Law enforcement sources identified the victim as 30-year-old Jason Tolentino of 122nd Street.

According to authorities, his brother-whose identity was withheld by police due to the ongoing investigation-was held for further questioning. Charges against him are pending the results of an autopsy by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Police said Tolentino and his brother got into an argument inside their home on 122nd Street near Hawtree Creek Road at about 3:20 p.m. last Tuesday.

The dispute turned violent when the brother allegedly picked up a skillet and struck Tolentino in the head, causing serious head trauma, law enforcement sources noted.

Officers from the 106th Precinct and EMS units responded to the location. Tolentino was rushed to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The investigation is ongoing.
