Cops Catch Ridgewood Armed Robber

Detectives collared a convicted felon from Brooklyn last week for his alleged role in a recent gunpoint robbery at a Ridgewood home, it was reported.

Police identified the suspect as 25-year-old Antonio Rosario of Ross Street in Williamsburg, who was picked up by the 104th Precinct Detective Squad last Tuesday, Feb. 4.

Criminal records noted Rosario was previously convicted in 2009 of attempted murder in Brooklyn and had been out on conditional parole since last August.

According to information provided by the Queens District Attorney’s office, the robbery took place at about 8:45 p.m. on the night of Jan. 20 at an apartment on Woodbine Street near Cypress Avenue.

Reportedly, two men were inside the location when Rosario and an unidentified suspect came to the location and asked to speak with an individual believed to be there. The identity of that individual was withheld.

Seconds later, authorities said, Rosario displayed a firearm and ordered one of the two male victims to drop to his knees. After the victim complied, the bandit reportedly held the gun against the man’s head and demanded cash.

Meanwhile, Rosario’s unidentified accomplice rummaged through the location for property, according to police.

Law enforcement sources stated the other male victim offered a sum of cash to the two suspects; Rosario reportedly replied that the victim had saved his friend’s life.

After being provided with $5,000 in cash, authorities said, Rosario and the unidentified suspect fled the location. Reportedly, Rosario was observed dropping the firearm under a nearby vehicle.

The home invasion was reported to the 104th Precinct. There were no reported injuries.

During an investigation, police officers found the discarded weapon: a loaded, black Deutsche Werke .765- caliber pistol which contained seven live rounds-one in the chamber and six in the magazine.

Based on information obtained during its inquiry, detectives tracked down Rosario and took him into custody following questioning last Tuesday. He was booked by Det. Christopher Spagnola on charges of first-degree armed robbery, seconddegree robbery, criminal possession of a weapon, grand larceny and menacing.

According to court records, Rosario was arraigned last Wednesday, Feb. 5, in Queens Criminal Court before Judge Erica Koenderman, who ordered him held on $300,000 bail. He is scheduled to return to court on Feb. 19.
