Break In Ridgewood Rob Pattern

Cops Say Prime Suspect Busted In Bushwick

Charges are pending against a man picked up last week in Bushwick who, police believe, is connected to a recent series of knifepoint robberies in Ridgewood.

As the Times Newsweekly went to press Wednesday afternoon, Mar. 5, law enforcement sources stated the suspect-whose identity was withheld due to the ongoing investigation-remains in custody in Brooklyn on larceny and robbery charges.

Reportedly, he is expected to be transferred soon to the 104th Precinct for booking on charges related to the Ridgewood pattern.

Sources familiar with the investigation stated the perpetrator was collared for allegedly shoplifting last Tuesday, Feb. 25, in Bushwick and later confessed to participating in two knifepoint holdups in the Queens section of Ridgewood.

Based on information obtained by detectives, the suspect was linked to two additional Ridgewood robberies, it was noted.

As reported in last week’s paper, four of the incidents took place between late afternoon and evening hours on Feb. 23-24. One of the holdups occurred in the area of Decatur Street and Myrtle Avenue, and two others took place in the vicinity of Cypress Avenue and Summerfield Street.

A fourth robbery occurred near the intersection of Grove Street and Forest Avenue.

In each of the capers, suspects approached the victims-many of whom were women-displayed knives and demanded property.

More information regarding the arrest will be published in the Times Newsweekly as it becomes available.
