CHARLES J. MAURER died on Monday, May 5, at the age of 71. He was
the beloved brother ofAnne N. Maurer and Anthony Maurer, brother-in-law of
Marie, cherished uncle of Anthony Michael and Michelene and Christopher
and great-uncle of Anthony Albert. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered
this morning, Thursday, May 8, at 9:45 a.m. at St. Adalbert’s Church, Elmhurst,
followed by interment at St. John Cemetery, Middle Village, under the
direction of Papavero Funeral Home, 72-27 Grand Ave., Maspeth.

EPIEANIAMELENDEZ of Brooklyn died on Sunday, May 4, at the age of
85. A native of Puerto Rico, she was the devoted mother of Rafael Melendez,
Elsie Sola, Nelita Melendez, Victor Melendez and Diana Melendez and dear
sister of Ezekiel Fontanez and Felicita Fontanez. She is also survived by 13
grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be
offered this morning, Thursday, May 8, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Brigid Church,
Brooklyn, followed by interment at St. John Cemetery, Middle Village, under
the direction of George Werst Funeral Home, 71-41 Cooper Ave., Glendale.

JOSEPHV. DECOLA died on Monday, April 28, at the age of 92. He was the
husband of the late Marilyn DeCola, loving father of Linda De La Garza and
father-in-law of Mario, cherished grandfather of Marissa and Sam Byram and
Dana and Brian Murphy and great-grandfather of Christina, Matthew and
Owen. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served during World War II. A Mass
of Christian Burial was offered on Friday, May 2, at Our Lady of Hope Church,
Middle Village, followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, North
Arlington, N.J., under the direction of Papavero Funeral Home, 72-27 Grand
Ave., Maspeth.

ROBERTHOSTOSKI of Glendale died on Monday, May 5, at the age of 81.
A native of Astoria, he was the beloved husband of Antonia (nee Oldhafer),
devoted father of Laurie Waller and Lisa Maulella and dear brother of Michael
Hostoski, Jean Cettina and Carol Baruffalo. He is also survived by eight
grandchildren. Services were offered at George Werst Funeral Home, 71-41
Cooper Ave., Glendale, by Rev. Marc Danvis, followed by interment at
Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, L.I.

FRIEDA PAUSCHE of Middle Village died on Saturday, May 3, at the age
of 86. A native of Seele, Gottschee, Yugoslavia, she was the wife of the late
William. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. Services were offered

VIOARA BELU of Ridgewood died on Thursday, May 1, at the age of 80. A native of Vladimirovac, Yugoslavia, she
was the wife of the late Nikola, devoted mother of Valjan Belu and Doina Martuscelli and dear sister of Petar Nikolica.
She is also survived by four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services were offered at Morton Funeral

ADOLPH HEGENBART of Hawley, Pa. died Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale,
Pa. at the age of 87.
Mr. Hegenbart was born March 26, 1927 in Grafenfeld, Gottschee, and was the son of the late Adolf and Josephine
(nee Krajec) Hegenbart. He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Elizabeth Hegenbart (nee Bendele) in 2004.
In March of 1939, he moved from Gottschee to Ridgewood, Queens. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1945
to 1949, earning the rank of sergeant; and from 1955 to 1990 was a meat cutter by trade.
He loved to hunt, fish and play cards. Adolph was an extremely dedicated family man and was a member of
American Legion, Wilson-Kelch Post 311, Hawley, Pa.
He is survived by one daughter: Jane Eyring of Hawley, Pa.; one granddaughter, Kimberely and her husband,
Matthew Mongon of Lansdale, Pa.; two great grandsons, Thomas and Steven Mongon.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, April 25, at St. Mary Magdalene RC Church, Church St,
Honesdale. Burial was at B.V.M. Queen of Peace Cemetery in Hawley. Arrangements by Teeters’ Funeral Chapel,
