Brooklyn Man Killed In Woodside Assault

Detectives continue to probe the circumstances surrounding an assault outside a Woodside catering hall early last Saturday morning, July 26, that left one man fatally beaten and another with gunshot wounds, law enforcement sources said.

According to police, 24-year-old Eduardo Rojas of 61st Street in Brooklyn died from sustained blunt force trauma to the head. A 25-yearold man was hospitalized after taking bullets to his left leg and back, authorities stated.

The NYPD is seeking a possible suspect in connection with the incident described as a black male standing 5’8″-tall, weighing about 180 lbs. and having dreadlocked hair.

Officers from the 108th Precinct found Rojas and the second victim injured after responding to a 911 call regarding a shooting at about 1 a.m. on 57th Street between 37th and 38th avenues.

Paramedics arrived at the location and brought Rojas and the 25-yearold man to Elmhurst Hospital Center. Rojas was pronounced dead upon arrival at the medical center, while the shooting victim was listed in stable conditions; his wounds were not life-threatening.

Various police units searched the surrounding area for possible suspects, but no immediate arrests were made, it was noted.

The NYPD Queens Homicide Squad is investigating the incident, police said.
