Command Throws Children’s Christmas Party In Corona

The 110th Precinct Community Council held their annual Christmas party last Thursday night Dec. 11, at Flanders Field VFW Post 150 in Corona.

The holiday spirit was on full display during the 110th Precinct Community Council meeting on Thursday, Dec. 11 at Flanders Field VFW Post 150. Members of the community enjoy holiday music, decorations and food. Leyson.

There was a holiday buzz throughout the night as Christmas music played, decorations adorned the walls, and free food was given out to the members of the community that attended.

Deputy Inspector Ronald D. Leyson, the precinct’s commanding officer, greeted the crowd and thanked everyone for coming out and supporting the 110th precinct. He told the families in attendance that the police are here for the community and, “it’s very important that we maintain the relationship between the police and the community.”

Leyson briefly touched upon crime rates for the 110th precinct, not wanting to dampen the festive mood. “Crime is down year-todate,” he said.

According to the CompStat report for the 110th precinct during the week of Nov. 24 to Nov. 30, crime is down 6.75 percent compared to the same time last year.

With many children in the audience Leyson gave some tips on being safe. He warned the youngsters to “be smart with your smartphone,” and not to risk injury by trying to fight off anyone that is attempting to steal their belongings.

After Leyson updated the community, a special guest arrived. Santa Claus came in with a sack upon his back filled with goodies for the children.

The 110th Precinct Community Council meets on the second Thursday of every month at Flanders Field VFW Post 150. The next meeting is set to take place on Jan. 8, 2015 at 7 p.m.
