Plenty Of Food, Music And Dancing At Ridgewood Gathering
The Christmas spirit was on full display at Community Alliance Initiative’s Christmas party for seniors on Monday, Dec. 22.
Assistant Director of Community Alliance Initiative, Arlene Colon said this was the first year they were holding this event and was happy to see so many seniors partaking and enjoying the holidays.
Seniors from the community were treated to a free breakfast as Christmas music filled the festively decorated hall at 60-87 Myrtle Ave. Later in the day lunch was served, as well as a small snack for those in attendance.
Members of Community Alliance Initiative put on a holiday show for the seniors where they sang and danced as a DJ played Christmas tunes. The seniors joined them in singing, dancing and spreading holiday cheer.
Colon said Community Alliance Initiative works closely with Friendly Connections Social Senior Care Center as well as Boulevard Senior Center, as a place for seniors to get together and participate in activities.
Community Alliance Initiative also serves as a community food bag distribution center located at 60-85 Myrtle Ave. and gives out food to those in need on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to noon. The center is also used for an afterschool wellness program for special need students from Bushwick High School and Grover Cleveland High School.
