A man was arrested Friday after shoppers at a Flushing supermarket saw him take a customer’s cell phone, a police source said.
Carlos Bengumea, 60, allegedly swiped the woman’s phone as she was shopping at the Chung Fat Supermarket, at 41-82 Main St., about 7 p.m.
Several shoppers observed him committing the crime, the police source said, and he was arrested and charged with grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.
Bengumea has a long criminal history dating back to 1986, according to the police source.
