Peter Vallone Jr elected as Civil Court judge

By Bill Parry

Now he is Judge Vallone.

Former City Councilman Peter Vallone Jr. was elected to fill a vacancy in the 3rd Municipal Civil Court District, which covers Middle Village, Maspeth, Ridgewood, Ozone Park and Howard Beach.

Vallone, who ran unopposed, was nominated by the Queens Democratic Party with the endorsement of the Republican and Conservative party organizations.

“I have a lot of experience in criminal justice so this is a natural progression for me,” Vallone said. “I’ve had a passion for justice at every job I’ve held.”

After his swearing in, Vallone will take his seat at the Queens Civil Courthouse, which is dedicated to his grandfather, Judge Charles Vallone, the family patriarch who died in his Kew Gardens chambers in 1967.

“I know my father is celebrating in heaven that his first grandson is following in his footsteps,” former Council Speaker Peter Vallone Sr. said. “And I’m sure he’s hoping my son would be as great a jurist as my dad was.”
