FOREST HILLS — A 45-year-old man from Connecticut died early Wednesday after his car collided with a tractor trailer on the Van Wyck Expressway.

At about 4:45 a.m., officers responded to a 911 call about a collision on the highway near 73rd Avenue, according to the police.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the man, identified as Tarik Williamson, of Waterbury, unconscious and unresponsive with trauma to the body, police said.

EMS responded and pronounced Williamson dead at the scene, officials said.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Williamson was driving his 2012 Acura in the southbound lanes at an apparent high rate of speed when it collided with the rear of a 2005 Kenworth tractor trailer driven by a 53-year-old man, police added.

The truck driver remained on the scene, officials continued.

No arrests have been made and the investigation was ongoing by the NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad, according to a police spokesman.
