A 28-year old Philadelphia man admitted this week to killing his 66-year-old aunt in her Queens Village home last year.
Richie Desauguste pleaded guilty on Tuesday to first-degree manslaughter before Queens Supreme Court Justice Gregory L. Lasak. He has been held without bail since March 2015 following the October 2014 incident.
According to Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown, by pleading guilty Desauguste admitted to stabbing his aunt, Rose Ragsdale, multiple times, resulting in her death during the early morning of Oct. 24, 2014 in her 105th Avenue residence.
“While the defendant has now been held accountable for his action, hopefully the victim’s family can take consolation during this holiday season knowing that justice has been served for their loved one,” Brown said in a statement.
Lasak indicated that he would likely order Desauguste to a determinate term of 23 years in prison during a sentencing hearing scheduled for Jan. 20, 2016.
