April 15 is only two months away and no amount of denial or wishing it would disappear is going to change the fact that your tax returns are due and you have to pony up to Uncle Sam. Fortunately, you don’t have to fret over the forms or shill out any shekels to get your taxes done professionally. The Queens Library, in conjunction with the New York State Tax Department, is offering FREE help and software to guide you through the onerous process and ensure you get the refund you deserve.
The online filing program is fast, safe and accurate and volunteers from the New York State Tax Department will guide you through tax preparation as you prepare and e-file your federal and state income tax returns at no charge. Services are available at different dates and times at certain Queens Library branches throughout the “World’s Borough,” with many providing expert guidance by volunteers who speak a variety of languages, such as Spanish, Chinese, Urdu, Haitian and Korean, among others.
