Suicide letter arrives at Bayside Times after shooting

By Patrick Donachie

Several hours after a woman died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound Monday in Bayside, a letter arrived at the Bayside Times labeled “A Deathbed Statement.”

The incident occurred outside the Beauty Forever Salon at 36-36 Bell Blvd., at about 9 a.m., according to an officer at the scene.

The woman was found dead on arrival, the police spokeswoman said.

Police confirmed that the letter was from the dead woman, who had been involved in a Small Claims Court case against the salon.

The seven-page letter, which was written March 18, described the writer’s travails throughout her life. It ended by saying “I can’t live like that again, I won’t.”

A woman who answered the phone at the Beauty Forever Salon said she did not want to discuss the suicide.

An older model Buick driven by the dead woman was parked directly in front of the salon.
