A Middle Village man picked up last week for allegedly peddling drugs in the neighborhood was also charged for stabbing a bus passenger in Maspeth and harassing a woman earlier this year, law enforcement sources said.
According to the criminal complaint provided by the Queens District Attorney’s office, Joseph Cancemi, 27, was seen by 104th Precinct officers at about 4 p.m. on April 27 riding a bike on the sidewalk near the intersection of 66th Drive and 78th Street when he stopped and talked to Safet Cucaj — who was also collared for the incident.
It was then that cops observed Cancemi allegedly hand three glassine envelopes each containing a quantity of heroin to Cucaj, and Cucaj hand Cancemi $30.
Police found the three glassine envelopes of heroin in Cucaj’s wallet, $30 in Cancemi’s pocket, an additional $107 from his pants pocket, as well as 33 glassine envelopes of heroin and two glass pipes with a quantity of cocaine from his jacket pocket, the complaint continued.
The criminal complaint states that Cancemi allegedly admitted to giving Cucaj the drugs, claiming he was doing him a favor.
Cops also found an allegedly stolen check made out to Holy Cross Church for $100 in Cancemi’s wallet. He said the he found the check and was going to return it.
For the incident, Cancemi has been charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, and for operating a bicycle on a sidewalk.
Cancemi was also pinched back in March for an alleged assault on a bus in Maspeth, cops said.
According to police, at about 9 a.m. on March 17, Cancemi allegedly repeatedly slashed his victim with a sharp object while riding the bus at the intersection of 59th Drive and 59th Street in Maspeth. The male victim suffered lacerations from behind his right ear to the middle of his neck, across his jaw, and on the right side of his forehead; he was treated at a local hospital and received stitches and medical glue to close the wounds.
For this incident, Cancemi was charged with first- and second-degree assault, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
On February 13, at about 8:50 a.m. cops arrested and charged Cancemi on second-degree harassment and two counts of second-degree aggravated harassment charges, law enforcement agents said.
According to the criminal complaint, Cancemi allegedly was sending aggressive text messages, phone calls, and voicemails to a female stating “Now you are dead,” “Watch your back, I’m going to your job,” and “I’ll f*** you up.”
Cancemi is due back in court on May 2 and 3 for these incidents.
