Police are searching for a man who impersonated a police officer as part of an attempt to commit a robbery in Corona on Jan. 18.
The 23-year-old victim was walking down the street near 103rd Street and Corona Avenue around 2 a.m. when a tan minivan pulled up to him and stopped, police say. The suspect got out of the minivan and approached the victim.
The man told the victim that he was a police officer and searched his pockets. He then left the scene empty handed.
The suspect is described as a 20 to 30-year-old black man. He is about 6 feet tall and 300 pounds. He was last seen wearing all dark clothing.
