A new sushi bar and restaurant has recently opened its doors in Hunters Point.
Dai Hachi Sushi, located at 46-18 Vernon Blvd., boasts a large variety of sushi, rolls, and other Japanese cuisine in an eight-page menu. It opened on Oct. 3 at the former site of the longstanding Junior’s Cafe, which closed last year after a two-decade run.
The restaurant’s manager was not available when reached, but a staffer said the site can seat around 50 people. The new restaurant, additionally, is the second Dai Hachi location, with its first in Midtown East.
The a la carte menu includes tuna, salmon, sea urchin, yellow tail, octopus, among roughly 30 items, priced between $2 and $6.50. Sushi bar entrees are also available with assorted pieces, soups, or salads, from $18 ranging to large combos for two for $70.

Dai Hachi also offers more than 70 rolls, including several under separate spicy and special rolls menus. Rolls range from $5 to $16, while spicy rolls start at $6 and go up to $8. Special 10-piece rolls are priced anywhere between $14 and $17.
Other menu items include bento boxes and entrees like teriyaki, tempura, katsu, and Asian fusion dishes like General Tso’s Chicken and beed with broccoli.
Dai Hachi is open every day from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
