The death of a man whose body was found in a BMW in North Corona on Sunday has been ruled a homicide, the NYPD announced today.

The ruling comes after police found the body of Daryl Whitfield, a 26-year-old Jamaica resident, in the back seat of a car at 95-01 Northern Blvd. at 7:02 a.m.on Sunday. Police said at the time that Whitfield appeared to have head trauma.

A Brooklyn resident, Careem Holder, 30, was arrested Tuesday in connection to Whitfield’s death. Holder was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon and tampering with physical evidence.

The charges have yet to be upgraded.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
