Thief Steals Packages Containing $230,000 Worth of Jewelry in LIC

Police have released video footage of a man who stole packages containing $230,000 worth of jewelry from a Long Island City apartment building.

Police say that the man went inside the lobby of a residential building near Crescent Street and 41st Avenue at around 10 a.m. on Aug. 14. The man grabbed two packages containing the jewelry and walked off in an unknown direction.

When the 26-year-old victim returned home to pick up his packages, he realized that they were gone and called the police. 

Police describe the suspect as Hispanic, and between 20 and 30 years old. He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, blue shorts and black shoes.
