A freight train at the Ridgewood/Glendale border was hit with a peculiar crime last month when a group of men stole 3,500 cases of beer from one of its cars.

The train, located at the New York & Atlantic Railway transit facility near Cody Avenue and Cypress Avenue, was hit by three unknown thieves some time between 3:20 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Dec. 19, according to police.

It is unclear how the thieves were able to remove and transport the thousands of cases of beer, which police say were of the Corona brand.

An NYPD spokesperson said the stolen beers had a total value of $100,000.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call the 104th Precinct Detective Squad at 718-386-2723.
