Woman Dies After Flushing House Fire Last Night: NYPD

One person has died after a two-alarm fire ripped through a small Flushing home last night, according to authorities.

The fire started at around 6:10 p.m. on the first floor of 148-40 60th Ave., a two-family home, according to police.

FDNY personnel were already on the scene by the time police arrived, and discovered an unconscious and unresponsive woman inside once the flames were extinguished at around 7:15 p.m.

EMS responded and pronounced the victim, 47-year-old Maria Medina, dead on the scene, police said.

No arrests have been made and the FDNY Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the Jan. 31 incident.

The Medical Examiner will determine the cause of the victim’s death.
