The parking lot next to the Forest Park Bandshell will transform into a recycling drop off station later this month for a bi-annual recycling and donation event.
The event, sponsored by State Sen. Joseph Addabbo and Assembly Member Mike Miller, will take place the last Sunday of the month, April 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Addabbo and Miller co-host the recurring event to provide constituents with a more secure place to recycle their unwanted items.
“I always enjoy these recycling events I get to host with Assemblyman Miller each year,” Addabbo said. “It gives our constituents the opportunity to do some serious spring cleaning and help the environment at the same time. I encourage everyone to come out and take advantage of this fantastic event.”
Residents are asked to bring small appliances, household items—such as bedding, dishes or curtains—eyeglasses, American flags, paper, clothing and pairs of shoes. Electronics, including computers, monitors, cell phones, batteries, fans, lamps, small televisions, chargers, and CDs, will also be accepted.
A mobile paper shredder will be onsite so that residents can safely recycle confidential documents.
Event organizers ask, however, that attendants leave any pre-shredded paper and cardboard at home. Other unaccepted items include air conditioners, liquids, mattresses, office furniture, firearms, vacuums, light bulbs, tires and medication.
The event will be held rain or shine, and all donated items must be clean and dry.
