The Glendale and Maspeth Stop & Shop locations will be revamped with a full remodel and expanded multicultural aisles and deli kiosk.

The Glendale Stop & Shop, located at 64-66 Myrtle Ave., will be remodeled to be brighter, with more modern decor, said External Communications Manager Stefanie Shuman.

“The store will just be a better shopping experience for customers the minute you open your eyes in that store,” Shuman said.

Earlier this month, Stop & Shop announced a new investment of $140 million that will revamp all of the New York City stores, focusing on food assortment.

“We’re making sure what we offer in stores really reflects the demographics, the community, the neighborhoods, the people who come in and shop our stores,” Shuman said. “For this location, we’re going to be increasing space for more ethnic products that really speak to the neighborhoods that that store serves.”

Glendale Stop & Shop is nearly doubling its multicultural section to include Latin cheeses, desserts, meats, drinks as well as Puerto Rican, Caribbean and halal assortments.

The Maspeth location, at 74-17 Grand Ave., will focus on Chinese, South American and kosher products as part of its multicultural section.

There will also be an expansion of the produce, meat, seafood and bakery departments. The Glendale deli will also add a grab-and-go case after realizing the current deli was too small to meet the customers’ needs. There will also be an added 15 doors in the frozen section.

On top of all this, Stop & Shop is adding new shelving and decor to make the stores look more “bright and beautiful,” Shuman said. Stop & Shop will not be affecting their hours and plans to make the adjustments at night and during the day.

Shuman said that the store will celebrate with special offers, samples and giveaways when the remodel is complete, around mid to late September.

Stop & Shop will also update all of its other stores across Queens, starting with the Ozone Park location next year.

“Our New York City stores have a unique demographic and we wanted to make sure because we serve New York City, we serve them well and with the right assortment,” Shuman said.

Stop & Shop has also invested 80,000 to fight food insecurity in New York City neighborhoods. This Friday, Stop & Shop will kick off an eight-week food distribution in Ozone Park in partnership with Food Bank for NYC.
