This holiday season, the Faith Bible Hope Center’s Food Pantry in Flushing will be able to help feed hundreds of families suffering from food insecurity thanks to a generous donation from Operation Child Rescue Inc. and Champions Martial Arts International.
Both organizations teamed up to host an annual food drive collecting a total of 5,209 non-perishable items — such as canned goods, vegetables, beans, cereal and pasta — that were delivered to the Faith Bible Hope Center’s Food Pantry, located at 154-02 41st Ave.
The annual food drive helped add more non-perishable items to Faith Bible’s food pantry to help provide families with approximately four months’ worth of food. It’s a huge effort to fight food insecurity in New York, said William Dobie, director of Operation Child Rescue.
Operation Child Rescue Inc., a nonprofit organization that provides basic resources to families in need, collaborated with Champions Martial Arts International in various locations such as Flushing, Bayside, Forest Hills, Fresh Meadows, Ozone Park, Ridgewood, Little Neck, Maspeth, Elmhurst, Astoria, Long Island City, Syosset, Sheepshead Bay and Avenue C.
“For the past three years, Operation Child Rescue Inc., with its partnership with Champions Martial Arts International, has chosen this food pantry because of its faithful service to the Queens community,” said William Dobie, director of Operation Child Rescue. “For this pantry to start during the pandemic where food insecurity in New York has increased and consistently provide to hundreds of families weekly is remarkable and we wanted to be part of it.”
After helping to feed families in the Queens community, Operation Child Rescue is collecting toys to help contribute to Senator John Liu’s toy drive.
