The Flushing Business Improvement District (BID) released its annual Flushing Guide, a comprehensive navigation tool with up-to-date and accurate MTA bus stop locations in the downtown Flushing area, to better serve residents, commuters and tourists.
However, this year’s Flushing Guide focuses on health and wellness with the inclusion of medical providers and facilities in the community to promote living a healthy lifestyle.
With its “Let’s Improve Downtown Flushing” flyers, members of the BID said they hope to encourage people to voice their concerns, as they work to improve the area and make it a better place for residents and visitors alike.
Along with the Flushing Guide, the Flushing BID will also be distributing “911 and 311 Instructions” flyers, “A Guide to Business Security” brochures and “Let’s Improve Flushing” flyers to encourage people to pitch in, and together make Flushing a better place for all.
The Flushing Guide was made possible with support from Councilwoman Sandra Ung, Affinity by Molina Healthcare, Fidelis Care, EmblemHealth, Humana, Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield, MetroPlus Health, Charles B. Wang Community Health Center, New York Presbyterian Queens and Rendr.
With the most up-to-date public transit information within the downtown Flushing area, the guide lists everything from hotels, parking lots, pharmacy locations to healthcare providers, fitness centers and more. The 2023 Flushing Guide will be distributed to senior centers and local businesses, and it can be picked up at the Flushing Library and Flushing BID information booth.
During the past year, the BID has been notified by many local store owners about the increase in crime, specifically shoplifting in downtown Flushing. In response, the BID said they will be distributing its “Guide to Business Security” brochures to focus on preventing crimes such as burglaries and shoplifting, as well as steps to take if these crimes do occur.
Oftentimes it is difficult to determine whether certain issues fall under the 911 category or 311 category, which is why the BID has created a flier that sorts the issues to make it easier for the people of downtown Flushing.
