Officers from the 104th Precinct arrested an individual recklessly operating a moped without a helmet or proper registration while traveling eastbound on Myrtle Avenue and Palmetto Street on Tuesday, March 7, at 11:28 p.m.
According to reports, as police attempted to stop the vehicle around 11:30 p.m., the defendant, Edward Lopez, 18, continued driving through multiple red lights and stop signs. Lopez, of Putnam Avenue in Ridgewood, was eventually stopped at Forest Avenue and Cornelia Street. When police apprehended him, they found a knife disguised as a comb.
According to police, the defendant was charged with reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a weapon, motorcycle helmet violation, motor vehicle violation and traffic violation.
