Fall has arrived in Glendale, Maspeth, Middle Village and Ridgewood, as evidenced by the opening of fall markets and more autumn-themed events in the area. For those who love all things plaid, pumpkin spice and everything spooky, there is an abundance of events to look forward to.
Haunted House
The Ridgewood Asylum, proclaimed as New York City’s most terrifying interactive Haunted House and Escape Room experience, will open its doors beginning on Friday, Oct. 13, from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Located on 1080 Wyckoff Ave. in Ridgewood, this long-lasting haunted house actually plans to open its doors at a new location in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, according to its website. Once event goers make it past the fear-inducing labyrinth, a haunted Jack O’ Lantern lounge awaits with hot cider, bales of hay, caramel apples, apple cider donuts, a selection of drinks and more. Tickers are made available online.
Fall Market
On Sunday, Oct. 22, the Sy. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Academy will host its annual Fall Market at 6117 Grand Ave. in Maspeth, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dozens of vendors will set up their stations both inside and outside of the academy with personalized items, baked goods, home decor, beauty items, jewelry and more up for grabs. There will also be activities for children and a 50/50 raffle at the all-day event.
Costume Party
At the Funtopia USA Family Fun Center on 66-26 Metropolitan Ave. in Middle Village, a Halloween Bash will be held on Friday, Oct. 27. From 3 p.m. to 9 p.m, join the Funtopia Center for its 23rd annual event to dance and participate in a costume contest. Entry fees are $10 per person and include a game card with 32 credits available. Free access to the jungle gym is included and a Halloween special laser tag comes complimentary with every paid admission.
Photo Opportunities
The St. Stan’s Maspeth Annual Fall Market comes with a unique photo opportunity on Sunday, Oct. 22, at 6117 Grand Ave. in Maspeth. Reservations and a $20 deposit are required to reserve a 10-minute mini photo shoot with the fall-themed background. Two high-resolution images are sold for $25 and all additional edits to photos will cost $10 each.
Halloween Bake Sale
Tasty treats await at the Halloween Bake Sale at the Queens Dance Academy, located at, 79-31 Myrtle Ave. in Glendale, on Saturday, Oct. 28. Cupcakes, cookies, rice krispies and other sweet treats are up for sale. All proceeds from the sale will go to aid the dance academy pre-teens in traveling to the nationals.
