Harvest season is upon us and it’s time to adorn our homes with everybody’s favorite seasonal decoration: pumpkins. And when pumpkins are back, it’s time to head out to the farms and go pumpkin picking.
Anybody can go to the store a pick up a fake pumpkin that will last you for years, but where’s the fun in that? Pumpkin picking creates lasting memories for you and your loved ones, so why not head to a farm and pick out a nice pumpkin for your future Halloween jack-o-lantern? If you’re heading out to Long Island this weeknd, here are some great farms you can visit to find the best pumpkin.

Borella’s Farm Stand

Elwood Pumpkin and Christmas Tree Farm
Advertised as the westernmost farm on LI where pumpkins can be picked off the vine, these farmers set themselves apart from much of the competition who don’t actually grow the pumpkins they place in their fields. Finks Country Farm
The month-long fall festival at this farm runs through Oct. 30. For those looking to pick their pumpkins right off the vine, visit this farm’s Jamesport location. Those who like wine tasting with their pumpkin picking should try the Mattituck location.
