In view of several applications for legal adult-use cannabis dispensaries in the neighborhoods of Community Board 5 (CB 5), the Liquor License and Cannabis Committee will hold this month’s meeting in the cafeteria of Christ the King High School, at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1.
District Manager Gary Girodano brought the applications of several adult-use dispensaries to the attention of the board and the public during the last general meeting in October.
As it stands, the locations for proposed retail cannabis dispensaries include 63-09 Flushing Ave. and 64-01 Grand Ave. in Maspeth, 70-24 Myrtle Ave. in Glendale (notifications for two applicants) and 56-40 Myrtle Ave. in Ridgewood (notifications from three entities).
The potential applicants will be given an opportunity to present their proposals to the public and the committee, according to CB 5. Residents will be given an opportunity to speak regarding the proposed locations and depending on the number of speakers, individuals will be limited to 2 or 3 minutes of speaking time. The number of speakers will be limited.
Giordano has said that there are concerns regarding these locations, especially because the two Maspeth locations are near Saint Stanislaus Kostka Elementary School and Martin Luther High School. Additionally, the proposed Glendale location is near the former Redeemer Lutheran School, which is now the site of Forte Prep Charter High School.
For additional information, or to register to speak in advance, please call the CB 5 office at 718-366-1834 or send an email to qn05@cb.nyc.gov.
