A new Jersey Mike’s Subs opened at 61-34 190th St. in Fresh Meadows on Wednesday, Nov. 29 — the third location to bring New Jersey style sandwiches to Queens.
As part of the grand opening, franchise owners David Mansbach, Adrian Jara, Corey Gluckstal and Seth Markowitz are holding a five-day fundraiser to support a local nonprofit, Wellness in the Schools.
Patrons of the new location can receive a special fundraising coupon in store until Sunday, Dec. 3. With a minimum donation of $3 to the organization, they can use it to claim a free sub.
Wellness in the Schools began with feeding 16 children in one classroom at Manhattan’s P.S 225 in 2006. Since then, they have partnered with 600 schools across the city as part of their mission to “feed kids real food” while also providing education on healthy habits.
The two other Jersey Mike’s are located in Maspeth and Forest Hills, but the sandwich chain has more than 2,500 locations across the country.
Since 2010, Jersey Mike’s has raised more than $110 million for local charities. Just this past March, they raised $21 million for more than 200 local charities during their Month of Giving.
The new Fresh Meadows location is now open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week.
The sandwich shop is replacing a Dressbarn store that formerly stood in its place, but closed after its parent company announced that it would shutter all of its stores in 2019.
