Laurelton residents awoke Thursday morning to the jarring sound of a car accident on the corner of 222nd St. and 133rd Ave.
Around 7:30 a.m., witnesses saw the aftermath of a crash between a gray SUV and a small school bus. Five children were on the school bus, and a family of four were inside of the minivan at the time of the accident. EMS services arrived on scene, followed by the FDNY and NYPD officers. No one was reported to be seriously injured and the school children were transported via another school bus to their school. A member of the family that was in the SUV said they were shaken up but were happy to be okay.
Tow trucks came to remove both vehicles from the scene. It is unclear what the cause of the accident was at the time.
