A Flushing church will present a Defensive Driving Course sponsored by the National Safety Council next month.
The Holy Family Parish, located at 175-20 74th Ave. in Flushing, will present the course on Saturday, Aug. 10, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
A church spokesperson shared that the parish recognizes the hardship and grief that traffic accidents can cause and they are taking proactive steps to promote road safety in the community.
The Defensive Driving Course aims to teach safe driving techniques, with the hope that the number of collisions will decrease. Participants in the course will also benefit from a mandatory insurance premium reduction and a decrease in their violation point total.
“We have become very aware of the hardships and grief suffered as a direct result of traffic accidents,” the church stated. “With your help, we can have a large impact on our community and county.”
