A food drive for the Sacred Heart Parish Ministries Food Pantry in Glendale will begin accepting personal care items and food donations starting Aug. 1, with the aid of state Sen. Joseph P. Addaboo Jr.
The food pantry, as part of the Sacred Heart Church located at 83-17 78th Ave., will begin collecting supplies before opening in the fall. Addabbo’s district offices serve as a drop-off point for any donations this year that fit the pantry’s needs.
Addabbo, an established supporter of the food pantry in its past donation efforts, said the need for more neighborhood support is needed now more than ever.
“After the long summer, the shelves of our charitable pantries are nearly empty,” Addabbo said. “Donating food and personal care items to our local church pantry is a meaningful way to ensure that our neighbors in need have access to essential resources.”
Addabbo’s district offices accepting donations are located at 84-18 Jamaica Ave. in Woodhaven and 66-85 73rd Pl. in Middle Village. Office hours are between are Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Fridays (during the summer) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
